Wallet hacked? Do this, in this order
Drainers often come back for what is left. These steps take about 30 minutes and start with a live scan of what the attacker can still do.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
My crypto wallet was hacked. What should I do first?
Stop signing anything, then scan the wallet to see whether the attacker holds your key or only an approval. If the key or recovery phrase leaked, move what is left to a brand-new wallet immediately: revoking does not help when the attacker can sign new approvals.
Can stolen crypto be recovered?
Sometimes. Exchanges can freeze deposits and stablecoin issuers such as Tether and Circle can freeze addresses, usually after a law-enforcement request. Report quickly and include transaction hashes. Be very wary of anyone who promises recovery for a fee.
How do I know if my recovery phrase was stolen?
If funds left without a transaction you signed, if you typed your phrase into a website or chat, or if your wallet shows an EIP-7702 delegation you did not set, assume the phrase is compromised and stop using that wallet.
Are crypto recovery services legit?
Almost all unsolicited recovery offers are scams that target hack victims a second time. No legitimate service needs your recovery phrase or an upfront "unlock" payment.
